Shrimati Kamladevi Bhaiya was born on January 1, 1931 in Telhara. She was the daughter of Shri Sundarlalji Mall and Shrimati Laxmibai Mall. She was the wife of Shri Hiralalji Bhaiya - Ex MLA of the Indian National Congress.
Shrimati Kamladevi Bhaiya, lovingly addressed as 'Bai' by her dear ones was a happy-go-lucky and jovial personality with the strongest willpower ever known.
She was the daughter of Shri Sundarlalji Mall and Shrimati Laxmibai Mall from Telhara. Her father was a Gandhi devotee and is fondly remembered as a freedom fighter of Independence era. He was also honored with 'Tamra Patra' in recognition of his participation in freedom struggle. Losing mother at a tender age, Kamladevi and her younger sister Shrimati Shantadevi were raised by their grandmother and elder sisters, named Shrimati Mohana, Shrimati Chandadevi and Shrimati Suraj who were married by then.
At the age of 14, she got married to Hiralal Bhaiya, age 18, from Lakhandur. Their wedding was talk of the town as it was a first 'No-veil' (khula munda) rajasthani shaadi in the area of C.P & Berar. They say many attended this marriage event just to see this unprecedented dare to defy orthodoxy of society. Becoming the daughter-in-law of Malguzars of that period, she could rarely go out unescorted by a maid. Her husband, Hiralalji Bhaiya, was a hardworker who made the family business grow by leaps and bounds. Not only was he dashing in business, but also in the field of politics. At the age of 40, he became the Sarpanch of Lakhandur Gram Panchayat. Later in the year 1978, he became MLA from Lakhandur-Arjuni Constituency. He was a disciplinarian and an honest politician. His contribution in educational and religious services is also remarkable. Born in Gandhi loving family, Kamladevi's first son Mohanlal was named after the Father of Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
On matter of faith, family took path of Renaissance instead of path of Traditions. Family was and is devotee of Sant Tukdoji Maharaj, who visited the house many times. As usual, Kamladevi remained a perfect host for all those events. Keeping in view of her husband Hiralalji‘s social and political engagements, she was to play a role of perpetual hostess at all times. A difficult task but she performed well and to the satisfaction of her highly demanding husband. As they say there is a woman behind a man's success, Kamladevi played a crucial role for the successful business and political career of Hiralalji Bhaiya.
Having obtained education till class 3rd or 4th, she always encouraged her children to study. She was a fairly modern thinker amongst people of her age and time. She never insisted too much on old traditions and customs. She was favorite not just amongst elders but kids as well. A kid by heart, she would laugh her heart out and cheer everyone up. Cooking was something she took pride in. To this day, no one can beat her in making baingan ki sabzi and masala karela. Herself a food lover, she enjoyed having sweet dishes the most, rice kheer being most relished. She had keen interest in reading and was also up to date with political know-how and public affairs. Blessed with melodious voice, she always enjoyed singing bhajans and would persuade kids to join in. "Baji anhad ki bansi" was favorite and often sung by her.
Kamladevi was a great story-teller. While she would roast peas or boil milk over the Sigri, her children would enjoy listening to her life experiences. Telhara stories remained a great part of her narratives. She would often quote about visits with her father to the house of Shri Brijlalji Biyani, father of Shrimati Sarladevi Birla. Also she would quote marwari kahawats while telling stories. She would never forget any incident and would remember even the distant relatives very well.
It is difficult not to remember her beauty. She looked charismatic and pretty even in her old days. Not only was she beautiful in looks, but also by heart. During this Covid pandemic, she had donated generously in CM Relief Fund. Unfortunately, the same corona infection took her breath away.
Kamladevi is survived by her four sons, two daughters and a clan of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will live in our hearts forever.

AMOL BHAIYA (Grand Son)
An era has come to an end, Bai, 85 years of life full of ecstasy and surprises, she led a very fulfilling life. Rajesh Khanna ones said "Babumoshai, jindagi lambi nahi badi honi chahiye" that was my dadi. Kamla bhai had a quiet persona, with a blistering smile always, was blessed with an easy go attitude, i do not remember her screaming or yelling at anyone, despite the adversities. She had a bunch of stories to tell - one could spend hours talking to her. She witnessed the struggle for independence at her parental home and had been associated with some of the staunch supporters of gandhian philosphy, including being closely associated with some of those. One of last pre-Indepedence witnesses left. People would remember her for being a work master - while Babaji (Hiralji) were a busy social worker, businessman and politician, she ran whole back office operations that extended as wide as running a big home, growing six kids, managing a big staff, in-&-out bound supply chain, hordes of guests almost everyday; perhaps she was a reason behind Babaji being able to run the show successfully. She was more than a Dadi for 3 of us, after sudden demise of Mummy (Pramilabai), she welcomed us with open arms. Some of the best moments were spent talking to her. Post our marriage, Poonam and self, had opportunities to spend undiluted time with Bai and Kaka every year in Mumbai and Pune, while we couldn't take them to Brussels; during every visit, she was quite sport for her age - always willing to travel far and wide, visit and expore new places, shop and dine different cuisines. I distinctly remember, at Bhimashankar, even for once she did not hesitate sitting in a hand carriage taking her down the hill 500 steps and back. Kaka (Rameshji) was fortunate to be along till her last days. I believe they had beautiful chemistry with affection and respect for each other. Last 2 decades Kaka is been with Babaji and Bai, and we could notice the love and care he had for both of
